Meet Kota Tsuda: FleetGuru's Bridge Between Japan and the World

As fleet managers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region grapple with mounting pressure to decarbonise their operations, reduce total cost of ownership, and future-proof their assets, one global trend is becoming impossible to ignore: Japan is emerging as an important market for understanding how mature fleet ecosystems can evolve. The solutions to tomorrow's fleet challenges can be found through data, automation, and AI.
At the 2026 AfMA Summit, FleetGuru is making a definitive statement about the industry's future. A key part of that statement is Kota Tsuda, General Manager, FleetGuru Japan.
A Career Built Across Mobility, Technology and Cross-Border Growth
Kota Tsuda brings to FleetGuru a broad commercial background across mobility, B2B technology, enterprise sales, market development and cross-border business growth.
With roots in Tokyo and experience across Asia-Pacific and Europe, Kota has worked across global organisations and growth-stage ventures, helping translate complex market needs into practical commercial strategy. His experience spans senior marketing and market development roles, fleet and mobility-focused ventures, and the co-founding of Scopes Data, a platform designed to simplify fleet emissions reporting for multinational companies.
Sustainability has been part of that journey, but not as a standalone cause. Kota’s focus has always been more practical: how better data, clearer systems and stronger commercial models can help businesses make better decisions across cost, operations, compliance and long-term fleet strategy.
“For me, the value of fleet technology is in how it improves real decisions. Fleet operators are dealing with cost pressure, maintenance complexity, supplier management, data gaps and, increasingly, sustainability requirements. FleetGuru is interesting because it sits right at that intersection, turning operational activity into structured intelligence that businesses can actually use.”
— Kota Tsuda, GM, FleetGuru Japan
That practical, commercially grounded perspective is precisely why FleetGuru brought Kota on board to help shape its expansion into Japan, one of the company’s most strategically important growth markets.
Japan on the Roadmap: A Market That Requires More Than Translation
Japan is not a market that most fleet technology companies enter lightly. While the country is known globally for its automotive excellence, its fleet and leasing sector has evolved in a distinctly local way, shaped by long-standing business practices, complex maintenance arrangements, supplier relationships, and operational workflows that often differ from global norms.
That makes Japan both challenging and strategically important for FleetGuru. Entering the market is not simply a matter of translating a platform. It requires cultural fluency, technical precision, local trust, and the ability to connect global technology with the realities of Japanese fleet operations.
As General Manager, FleetGuru Japan, Kota is helping shape that market entry. His role is to build the relationships, frameworks and local understanding needed for FleetGuru’s AI-driven maintenance platform to deliver genuine value in Japan, while also bringing Japanese market insights back into FleetGuru’s broader product and commercial strategy.
His presence at AfMA this year is no coincidence. It signals that FleetGuru’s ambitions extend beyond Australia and New Zealand, positioning the company not just as a fleet technology provider but also as a platform that turns complex maintenance operations into structured, actionable intelligence across markets.
A Global Platform, a Local Voice
At AfMA, Kota will support FleetGuru’s demonstration of MIC, the company’s AI-powered maintenance intelligence companion, by interacting with it in Japanese.
This simple exchange reflects a broader point: as FleetGuru looks beyond Australia and New Zealand, the platform needs to support different languages, operating models and market requirements. For Japan, that means more than translation. It means understanding local fleet operations, supplier relationships, maintenance workflows and commercial expectations.
"Kota brings something truly unique to FleetGuru and to this industry, a deep understanding of one of the world's most advanced fleet markets, combined with a genuine passion for sustainable outcomes. Having him on stage at AfMA, speaking Japanese to MIC in real time, is a statement about where FleetGuru is heading and how seriously we take our global ambitions."
